Get to Know Scott McInnis

Originally from a small farming community in Ontario, Scott McInnis has proudly called Kimberley home since 2010. In Kimberley, Scott met his wife Diana who has deep roots in the area, and together they have proudly raised their teenage son, Luke.

For the past 15 years, Scott has been a teacher and principal for grades Pre-K to Grade 12 in both the public and independent school systems. His career has made him a passionate advocate for our education system and child care at both the local and provincial levels. Scott believes in giving back to his community, and that’s why he has proudly coached basketball, helping lead his teams to winning the East Kootenay Zone Championships 2 of the past 3 years.

Scott and his family are avid outdoor enthusiasts and stewards of the land. They hunt in the mountains, fly fish the rivers and creeks, and work their family Christmas tree hobby business in the forests surrounding the East Kootenays.

Scott is passionate about community leadership and parliamentary democracy. In 2022, he was selected with a handful of teachers from across the province to participate in the Teacher Institute for Parliamentary Democracy in Victoria which kickstarted his passion for politics.

Scott is also a member of the Elks Lodge #90 in Kimberley and enjoys volunteering for various community events throughout the year.

"It has been an honour to serve the people of this wonderful riding, and I am delighted to see someone as committed and capable as Scott McInnis step up to continue this important work. I have no doubt Scott will be a strong advocate for our community, and we are lucky to have him stepping forward. I look forward to continuing to support Kevin Falcon and Scott McInnis through the next election.”
—Doug Clovechok, Retiring MLA of Columbia River-Revelstoke

"I am truly humbled to have the opportunity to earn the support of our community and I look forward to bringing forward real solutions and new ideas to tackle the failing policies of the NDP. BC United is the only party with the track-record and ideas to fix the crises we are facing in health care, cost-of-living and crime — and I look forward to advocating for you each and every day."

"Scott’s unwavering commitment to education and child care will make him an important voice in BC United’s Team 2024 slate of candidates, and I know he will bring that commitment to all issues facing the residents of Columbia River-Revelstoke. BC United continues to nominate candidates from a wide variety of backgrounds including health care, business and community advocacy, demonstrating to British Columbians that we are the only party ready to form government and hit the ground running on day one."
