In 2002, Puneet immigrated to Canada from India with her husband, Jatinder. Balancing work during the day and studies at night, she was called to the BC Bar in 2006 and later became a named partner at the prestigious Sanghera Sandhar Law Group in 2012, renowned for its legal expertise in Surrey.

Throughout her journey of establishing herself in Canada, Puneet actively engaged in the community, mentoring school children to steer them away from gangs and violence, as well as assisting new immigrants aspiring to pursue legal careers in Canada.

Puneet has made significant contributions to the Surrey community serving on both government and non-profit boards such as the Legal Services Society of BC, the Board of Variance for the City of Surrey, the Surrey Homelessness and Housing Society, and the Mayor’s Business Advisory Committee for the City of Surrey. Currently, Puneet serves on the Law Society of BC Complainants’ Review Committee. Her dedication to community service earned her the prestigious Queens Jubilee Medal in 2012, recognizing her exceptional volunteer work.

In the 2017 general election, Puneet ran as the BC Liberal candidate in Surrey-Panorama, demonstrating her commitment to public service. Since then, she has shared her insights and expertise as an active commentator on current affairs, making notable contributions as a contributor on Global BC and The Orca.

As a mother, Puneet shares BC United Leader Kevin Falcon’s vision of building a bright future for the next generation. Whether addressing challenges related to crime, mental health and addiction, healthcare, or affordability, Puneet firmly believes that Kevin Falcon and Team BC United are prepared to deliver the outcomes that the people of Surrey-Serpentine River truly deserve. With her professional expertise and unwavering dedication to community service, Puneet is fully committed to working tirelessly for the people of Surrey-Serpentine River and driving meaningful progress towards a brighter future for this generation of British Columbians, and the next.

“I’m running as the BC United MLA for Surrey-Serpentine River because Surrey residents are tired of the broken promises from David Eby and the current NDP Government,” said Sandhar. “Trust is what we build our lives on. As a mother of two girls, and an active member of this community, I’m determined to reclaim that trust. I’m committed to fighting for a better Surrey, not only for my daughters, but also for future generations. It’s time to put an end to the current government taking our community for granted.”
