Get to Know Michael Wu

As a devoted husband, proud father of two, and successful entrepreneur, Michael Wu is committed to serving the people of Burnaby North as their next MLA in a BC United government. Wu’s ties to his community run deep: he attended school in Burnaby, he’s lived in the city for 25 years, and has long served the Burnaby RCMP as an auxiliary member providing translation services in Mandarin and Cantonese for 17 years.

Wu’s passion for becoming an entrepreneur gave him the opportunity to own his first business at 19 and to continue on expanding his businesses from Richmond to Burnaby. As a small business owner, Wu knows firsthand the challenges small-businesses face – in order to have a prosperous, free-enterprise economy, there must be less roadblocks and more opportunities for businesses to thrive.

In 2006, Wu joined the RCMP and became an Auxiliary Member in Burnaby. In addition to providing translation services, Wu also worked at the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, assisted various sections of the RCMP, and general duties attending calls throughout Burnaby. Wu’s experience in law enforcement has shown him the devastating effects of crime on communities – he believes public safety is paramount and that the government must protect those who cannot protect themselves.

Having once been an immigrant himself, Wu not only wants to give back to the community that welcomed him with open arms, but also build a foundation in which future immigrants will be able to live and prosper in. Immigration is integral to sustaining a vibrant, diverse, and booming province – Wu is committed to fighting to give more opportunities to all British Columbians.

Wu wants his children – Kayden and Ariana – and future British Columbians to have the same opportunities he has had; opportunities which allowed him to fulfill his dreams. He believes a BC United government – led by Kevin Falcon – is the only government capable of delivering tangible results: restoring public safety, tackling affordability, and saving our failing health-care system.

Wu is dedicated to working together with the BC United Team to build a stronger, brighter future for British Columbia.

“I’m running to be the next MLA in Burnaby North because I want my children to have the same opportunities I have had in my life; opportunities which have allowed me to fulfill my dreams. Our community deserves better, but David Eby and the NDP are not getting us the outcomes we need. I firmly believe BC United is the only party capable of delivering real results. It’s time for change in Burnaby North.”
