Get to Know Dr. David Moniz

Dr. David Moniz, is an accomplished Medical Practitioner at Chilliwack General Hospital, who specializes in the areas of emergency medicine, anesthesia, and family practice. He has held several leadership roles, including Acting Director of Medical Services and Board Chair of the Remote Vocational Training Scheme. In these roles throughout his career, David has been driven to create process improvements to medicine and enhance patient care – consistently putting patients, not bureaucrats first.

Dr. Moniz received his BSc and MSc degrees from the University of British Columbia, where he also authored research that has been published in scientific journals, including the Journal of Neuroscience. David’s journey into medicine took him to Australia to complete his studies, where he received training as a rural generalist anesthetist. He also holds Masters in Public Health and Health Leadership and Management, which has further his skills in health care governance and policy analysis.

David’s diverse professional experience spans roles such as Emergency Physician, Clinical Instructor, and Non-Executive Director across institutions in Canada and Australia. His commitment to helping others extends beyond practicing medicine. He has volunteered with organizations like St John Ambulance Australia and served as a scout leader, reflecting his dedication to youth development.

David calls Chilliwack home with his family, and is running to be the next BC United MLA for Chilliwack North. He is committed to advocating for policy changes that prioritize the well-being of vulnerable populations and patients, and he knows BC United is the only party ready to hit the ground running on day one.
