Lorne Doerkson was first elected as MLA for Cariboo-Chilcotin in 2020. He currently serves as Shadow Minister for Emergency Management and Climate Readiness; and Water, Land and Resource Stewardship and Caucus Chair.
Doerkson has previously served as Deputy Whip and Shadow Minister for Water, Land and Resource Stewardship, and Rural Development.
A long-time resident of the Cariboo-Chilcotin, Doerkson has worked in many different industries. He spent 20 years in the newspaper business, followed by a stint in the automobile industry and self-employment in financial services.
Doerkson is a passionate community booster and was twice awarded the Community Booster award by the Chamber of Commerce. He has served on many boards and volunteered for a variety of local causes. He has often performed emcee duties for events and served at an executive level on boards including the Williams Lake Stampede, The Chamber of Commerce, the BC Community Newspaper Association and the Hough Memorial Cancer Society.
Doerkson has always had a passion for politics and has served the BC United Party at an executive level for many years.
