BURNABY, B.C. – Today, BC United Leader Kevin Falcon proudly introduces Michael Wu as the party’s acclaimed candidate for Burnaby North in preparation for the next provincial election, scheduled for October 2024. As a devoted husband, proud father of two, and successful entrepreneur, Wu is committed to serving the people of Burnaby North as their next MLA in a BC United government.
“I’m running to be the next MLA in Burnaby North because I want my children to have the same opportunities I have had in my life; opportunities which have allowed me to fulfill my dreams,” said Michael Wu. “Our community deserves better, but David Eby and the NDP are not getting us the outcomes we need. I firmly believe BC United is the only party capable of delivering real results. It’s time for change in Burnaby North.”
Originally from Taiwan, Wu’s ties to his Burnaby community run deep: he attended school in Burnaby, has lived in the city for 25 years, and has long served the Burnaby RCMP as an auxiliary member providing translation services in Mandarin and Cantonese for 17 years.
“Michael Wu’s deep roots in his community and private sector background make him an outstanding candidate for Burnaby North,” stated BC United Leader Kevin Falcon. “His commitment to restoring public safety, tackling the affordability crisis, and saving our failing health-care system aligns perfectly with BC United’s vision for fixing British Columbia.”
Having once been an immigrant himself, Wu not only wants to give back to the community that welcomed him with open arms, but also build a foundation in which future immigrants will be able to live and prosper in.
Wu further emphasized, “I know I can be the strong voice the people of Burnaby North need in the legislature. I’m dedicated to working together with Kevin Falcon and the BC United Team to build a stronger, brighter future for Burnaby North and our province.”
