Prince George, B.C. – Today, Kiel Giddens was proudly introduced as BC United’s candidate for Prince George – Mackenzie in anticipation of the next provincial election scheduled for October 2024. As a dedicated family man with two young sons, Kiel and his wife Elyse have chosen Prince George as their home and hope to provide their children with a brighter future.
“Kiel Giddens’ deep community ties and extensive private sector involvement make him the perfect choice to represent Prince George – Mackenzie,” stated Kevin Falcon, Leader of BC United. “His unwavering dedication to fostering growth in the North, advocating for local families, and empowering Prince George – Mackenzie to thrive aligns perfectly with BC United’s vision for a more prosperous British Columbia.”
Giddens is a passionate advocate for meaningful change. He’s committed to lowering the cost of living for families, ensuring responsible fiscal management that respects taxpayers, fostering job creation, and cracking down on the NDP’s explosion of crime. Additionally, he’s dedicated to urgently addressing the pressing healthcare issues in the North and strengthening mental health and addiction services. He aims to be the unwavering voice that Prince George – Mackenzie deserves in the Legislature, advocating for Northern British Columbia’s growth and prosperity.
“In Kiel, we have a candidate with a unique blend of perspective and experience. He’s fully prepared to serve the people of Prince George – Mackenzie, hold the current government accountable, and fight for the outcomes our community deserves,” remarked Mike Morris, current BC United MLA for Prince George – Mackenzie.
Giddens brings over 15 years of experience to the BC United team, including leadership in the private sector and government roles. He played a pivotal part in establishing the LNG industry in British Columbia and Canada, fostering partnerships, and promoting economic opportunities in Northern communities. As the former President of the Prince George Chamber of Commerce, he advocated for small businesses and local employment prospects. Kiel currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation and has held several roles on boards and working groups for the betterment of the Northern region.
“Kiel is ready to hit the ground running,” said Shirley Bond, BC United MLA for Prince George-Valemount. “His energy, intelligence, and strong work ethic enable him to step into this role, championing the people of Prince George – Mackenzie from day one. I know Prince George – Mackenzie would be incredibly well-served having Kiel as their MLA.”
Giddens further emphasized, “Whether we’re tackling challenges such as crime, healthcare, economic growth, or affordability, I firmly believe that the BC United team, under the leadership of Kevin Falcon, is the only party capable of delivering better outcomes for the people of British Columbia. I will continue to volunteer, to build partnerships, seek solutions and fight for the community I want for my kids. Let’s work together, united, for the North.”
