Kevin Falcon continues to build a strong, competent, election-ready team!

Kamloops, B.C. – Today in Kamloops, BC United Leader Kevin Falcon proudly announced that four experienced Members of the Legislative Assembly, Lorne Doerkson, Peter Milobar, Todd Stone, and Jackie Tegart, will seek re-election with BC United in the next provincial election, scheduled for October 2024.

“These incredible and accomplished candidates are committed to continuing their dedicated service to the people of British Columbia, upholding BC United’s vision and values, and tackling the critical issues that our province is facing,” said BC United Leader Kevin Falcon. “We are thrilled to have such an outstanding team of individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication throughout their careers. With their collective experience and expertise, I am fully confident in their ability to continue delivering results for British Columbians on the issues that matter most like affordability, health care, public safety, and tackling mental health and addictions issues. United, we know a better British Columbia is within reach.”

In the coming weeks, British Columbians can expect a growing team of strong, accomplished, and diverse candidates to be announced as BC United continues to build an alternative to the NDP, focusing on a positive vision for the future of the province and delivering results.

BACKGROUND

Lorne Doerkson (Cariboo-Chilcotin):

Doerkson was first elected as MLA for Cariboo-Chilcotin in 2020 and currently serves as Shadow Minister for Emergency Management and Climate Readiness, and Water, Land and Resource Stewardship and Caucus Chair. With a strong background in community involvement and a passion for politics, Doerkson shared, “Today, I’m excited to announce my bid for re-election in Cariboo-Chilcotin. BC United’s commitment to innovative solutions, leadership, and competence assures me that they are the only party capable of delivering the results our province deserves, turning our vision for a brighter future into reality. I remain committed to fighting for better outcomes, especially for the people of Cariboo-Chilcotin.”

Peter Milobar (Kamloops Centre):

Peter Milobar, elected MLA for Kamloops-North Thompson in 2017 and re-elected in 2020, serves as Shadow Minister for Finance. His extensive experience in local government and provincial politics makes him a valuable asset to the BC United Team. Milobar commented, “It’s an honor to represent Kamloops Centre and I’m eager to continue working for the betterment of our community and our province. Guided by the leadership of Kevin Falcon, and his comprehensive approach to addressing critical issues such as tackling affordability, enhancing mental health and addiction services and transforming our wildfire preparedness, response, and recovery, I am confident that together, we can forge a brighter future for British Columbia.”

Todd Stone (Kamloops-North Thompson):

Todd Stone, elected MLA for Kamloops-South Thompson in 2013, 2017, and 2020, currently serves as House Leader and Shadow Minister for Jobs, Small Business and Economic Development. He has previously served as Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure and was the Minister responsible for Emergency Management BC. Stone, a successful entrepreneur, said, “I’m excited to be seeking re-election for Kamloops-North Thompson with BC United, a party dedicated to the growth and prosperity of our province. I look forward to advancing our shared vision under the leadership of Kevin Falcon and working alongside my fellow BC United Team to deliver critical results, like lowering the cost of living for families, addressing the health care crisis, fostering job creation, and cracking down on the NDP’s explosion of crime.”

Jackie Tegart (Fraser-Nicola):

Jackie Tegart, who has been elected as MLA for Fraser-Nicola in 2013, 2017, and 2020, currently serves as Assistant Deputy Speaker. Tegart brings a wealth of experience, having served on various committees and boards throughout her career such as the village council in Ashcroft and the BC School Trustees Association. She remarked, “I’m eager to seek re-election with the BC United Team and remain committed to relentlessly pursuing a brighter future for the residents of Fraser-Nicola. My dedication to this community and to the province of British Columbia is unwavering and, under the leadership of Kevin Falcon, I firmly believe BC United can deliver the outcomes that our province needs.”
