LANGLEY, B.C. – Today, BC United announces Barb Martens as the candidate for Langley-Walnut Grove in preparation for the next provincial election, slated for October 2024.

As a 29-year resident of Walnut Grove, Martens has raised her family, participated in community sports and arts, and fulfilled her career in public safety. As a current Langley Township Councillor, Martens is putting her name forward to represent the riding of Langley-Walnut Grove – under the BC United banner – in the next provincial election.

As a former Vancouver Police Officer and the founding member of the BC Women in Law Enforcement, a non-profit organization whose vision is to strengthen, unite, and promote women in law enforcement in the Province of B.C., Martens states, “Now is the time to stand together and make sure all British Columbians feel safe and heard. Families are struggling with the soaring cost-of-living, a crumbling health-care system, and declining public safety. Langley-Walnut Grove deserves a strong voice committed to bringing the concerns of our neighbours, families, and friends to the BC Legislature. I know a government, under the leadership of Kevin Falcon, will fix British Columbia.”

BC United’s Leader, Kevin Falcon, expressed his excitement about Barb Martens joining the BC United team, “Communities like Langley are facing unprecedented challenges like health care, affordability, and deteriorating public safety. A candidate like Barb Martens, we will strengthen our ability to deliver real results. Together, we will fix the challenges facing Langley and British Columbia.”

Under the leadership of Kevin Falcon, BC United will build a better British Columbia and deliver real results on the issues that matter most. As the only team that can beat David Eby’s NDP, BC United continues to build a strong team for the next provincial election.
