Get to Know Elena Lawson
Elena Lawson is a compassionate and accomplished business and government professional, with a deep commitment to fighting for families, especially those in the autism community. As a mother of two, Elena understands the challenges of raising children and is dedicated to ensuring that all families have the resources and support they need to thrive.
Born and raised in Esquimalt, Elena has strong roots in the Langford-Juan de Fuca area and currently resides in Metchosin with her husband Matt and their two sons, William (8) and Marcus (4). Elena holds a degree in Business Administration and Computer Science, has also studied property and project management, and real estate, giving her a diverse skill set that she has put to use in both the private sector and in government.
After spending several years in the private sector, Elena has dedicated the past decade to public service, most recently as a specialist in procurement for the provincial government. However, it was when Elena and Matt’s oldest son, William, was diagnosed with autism in 2018 that her passion for helping others truly blossomed. With the support of individual autism funding, Elena and her family were able to build a strong home team for her son, inspiring her to become a vocal advocate for families affected by autism.
In 2021, when the NDP announced sweeping changes to autism policies in British Columbia, Elena knew she had to take action. With a fierce commitment to elevating the voices of families across the province, Elena co-founded the Children’s Autism Federation of BC, organized protests at the BC Legislature and was a strong advocate in getting the NDP to pause their plan to scrap individualized autism funding. She is now seeking election as the BC United MLA for Langford-Juan de Fuca with a simple but powerful message: families in her community will not be pushed around.
Elena’s attracted to BC United Leader, Kevin Falcon’s vision that focuses on results – whether tackling issues related to crime, mental health and addictions, healthcare or affordability, she believes that he will get the results British Columbians deserve. With her experience, dedication, and passion, Elena is excited to join the BC United Team to hold the government accountable and, advocate and deliver the outcomes that families in Langford-Juan de Fuca deserve.

“As a mother of two, one of whom has autism, I know firsthand the challenges that families in Langford-Juan de Fuca face every day. It’s time for us to have a strong voice that advocates for the needs of our families and ensures that our community thrives.
I am ready to stand up alongside Team BC United to hold the government accountable and to deliver the outcomes that families in Langford-Juan de Fuca deserve.”
